About this event

Important information

Due to the ongoing uncertainty with Covid-19 and the recent developments surrounding the new Omicron variant, we have made the decision to hold the Sustainable Tourism Accommodation Design Guide Launch as an online webinar instead of a live event.

Whilst this is a huge disappointment, the National Forest Company considers this to be in the best interests of everyone involved to ensure we keep our partners, communities and employees safe. We do hope that you will be able to join us to celebrate the launch of the guide, learn about our aspirations for the National Forest as a sustainable tourism destination and be the first to hear about plans to support the guides implementation. Despite not being able to bring everybody together in person we are very grateful for your ongoing support and look forward to seeing you online!

Event overview

The past 18 months have been hugely challenging for the tourism sector. At the National Forest Company, we are committed to supporting its recovery, as well as positioning the National Forest to maximise opportunities from a growing domestic market, increasing consumer demand for low carbon holidays, and staycations where families and individuals can unwind and reconnect with nature.

Working with our local authority partners and consultants, Crown and Canopy & Arboreal Architecture, we have produced a design guide that will support tourism accommodation providers to transition to net zero, establish local supply chains, work with local communities, and provide for nature.

To help stimulate investment in new and retrofitted tourism accommodation, we are also launching a programme of expert advice to help existing and new developers and operators implement the seven principles outlined in the guide.
